General Situation of Orphans in Gaza
Since 1948, children have always been the most affected by the systematic oppression carried out by Israel. In Gaza, where life under constant attacks and deprivation makes it difficult even to have a normal childhood, for those without a mother and father, life is nothing short of a nightmare.
Especially in the 15-month period from October 7 until the ceasefire, more than 50,000 people were martyred in Gaza, and around 40,000 children were left orphaned. In a place where tens of thousands of buildings have been destroyed and basic food supplies are scarce, it is our duty to protect and care for the orphans of the Ummah. As the Mavi Marmara Association, with your support, we are launching a large-scale orphan sponsorship program so that not a single orphan in Gaza is left without care. By contributing 1,000 TL, you can support this project and cover the monthly subsistence of an orphan.
How Does the Orphan Sponsorship Work?
When you start a new sponsorship, a child from Gaza becomes your sponsored orphan. Once you make your sponsorship payment, one of the children on our list in Gaza will be assigned to you, and your monthly donations will be transferred directly to that orphan. In addition to sponsoring an individual orphan, you may also choose to make a general donation to support our orphan programs.
How Can I Make a Payment for Orphans?
The monthly sponsorship fee for an orphan is 1,000 TL.
Payments can be made monthly, or you may choose to donate for 12, 24, or 36 months in advance.
How Do We Deliver the Aid?
Your support is delivered directly to each orphan by our local teams on the ground. In addition to meeting their financial needs, these funds are also used for the orphan’s education, healthcare, and other essential services.
How Can You Support?
Through our website, you can start an orphan sponsorship and support a child for 1,000 TL per month. You may also make a donation of any amount via the “Orphan Support (General)” section, which will go into a collective fund for orphans.
Can I Send My Zakat to Orphans?
Yes, you can allocate your zakat to help orphans. You may make these payments monthly, or as a one-time donation covering one, two, or three years in advance.
