Nedcet Yildirim
Necdet Yıldırım, a victim of the pirate attack on the humanitarian aid fleet transporting aid to Palestine in international waters on the morning of May 31, 2010, by Israel, climbed to the upper deck of the Mavi Marmara ship to help his friends during the attack. He tragically lost his life to real bullets used by Israel to stop the humanitarian aid ship.
Born on August 15, 1978, in Istanbul, Necdet Yıldırım completed his primary and secondary education in Istanbul, although originally from Malatya. He began working at the Pharmacy Department of the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation in 2005 and married Refika Hanım in 2007. The couple has a two-year-old daughter named Melek. Described by his neighbors in Başakşehir as always cheerful, calm, patient, and extremely compassionate, Necdet Yıldırım was known as merciful, cheerful, and a monument of patience by his family as well. He was dearly loved by his colleagues. Moving to Çorlu due to work, Yıldırım volunteered to participate in the aid convoy aimed at lifting the Gaza blockade.
