Water Well
One of the most pressing issues caused by drought in Africa is the lack of access to clean water. Every year, thousands of people in this region lose their lives due to dehydration or consuming contaminated water. Moreover, agricultural activities have come to a halt due to severe water shortages.
In addition to poverty, the struggle to access water is a major burden. Many people in Africa have to walk tens of kilometers each day just to reach water sources and then carry the water back home. At this critical point, we continue our efforts to provide clean and accessible water to individuals in need across Africa and Asia.
Water wells opened in these regions not only ensure access to clean water, but also contribute to the development of agriculture and livestock farming. In fact, these areas—where per capita income is among the lowest in the world—are heavily affected by drought, making farming and animal husbandry almost impossible. Therefore, by funding a water well, you also contribute to the economic development of the region.
Technical Details of Water Wells:
-
The wells are typically 50 to 100 meters deep, and include a pump structure at the surface for easy access. A water trough is also built for livestock to benefit from the water source.
-
Between 300 and 500 people benefit daily from each well that we open with your support.
-
Our target countries include: Chad, Ghana, Mali, Guinea, Niger, Cameroon, Sierra Leone, Benin, Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Tanzania, and Kenya.
-
In addition to standard wells, we are planning to develop more advanced and deeper water systems to serve humanity more effectively.
-
Most water wells are drilled in remote, rural, and high-need areas, far from capital cities or urban centers. This requires careful monitoring, supervision, and evaluation of each project.
-
All water projects undergo water quality analysis, and we strive to collaborate with local authorities whenever possible to ensure safe and sustainable implementation.
Lifespan and Warranty of Water Wells:
The lifespan of a water well depends on factors such as underground water reserves, climate conditions, usage intensity, and external factors (war, natural disasters, etc.). A typical well has a lifespan of 3 to 10 years, and comes with a 2-year warranty.
You can fund a water well individually, or together with a group of friends or family. If this is not possible for you, you may also contribute to the Water Well Fund according to your means. Once sufficient funds are collected, we initiate the construction of a new well or cover maintenance and repair costs of existing ones.
