Hanzala 2, which set sail to challenge the naval blockade imposed on Gaza and draw global attention to the humanitarian crisis in the region, continues its journey with determination. Named after Handala, the iconic child figure created by Palestinian cartoonist Naji al-Ali as a symbol of resistance, the vessel is carrying out a diplomatic voyage through Scandinavian waters as part of a peaceful and unarmed initiative aimed at reaching Gaza.

Port by Port: Raising Global Awareness

Hanzala 2 is not only a humanitarian vessel; it also serves as a “floating ambassador,” meeting local communities at every port and highlighting what organizers describe as the unlawful nature of Israel’s naval blockade. Through its visits across Scandinavia, the vessel seeks to keep the issue of Gaza on the European agenda and bring this humanitarian appeal to different parts of the world.

July Route and the Journey Toward Gaza

Throughout July, Hanzala 2 will continue its voyage with scheduled stops at key ports in Denmark. The vessel’s upcoming itinerary is as follows:

  • Aarhus: 5–8 July
  • Copenhagen: 10–12 July
  • Svendborg: 13–15 July
  • Marstal: 16–20 July
  • Sønderborg: 21–24 July

Security and Determination

According to the organizers, operational security remains a top priority. Due to technical requirements and legal regulations, Hanzala 2 carries a maximum crew of 12 people at any given time.

In response to previous incidents and what organizers describe as acts of piracy and unlawful interventions in international waters, the vessel’s real-time location is not publicly shared through open tracking systems. This measure is considered part of the movement’s commitment to reaching Gaza safely.

Despite past interventions, Hanzala 2 continues its voyage with a transparent and civilian character, maintaining its determination to contribute to efforts aimed at ending the blockade on Gaza.
