Africa Projects
Despite its vast natural resources and young population potential, Africa remains one of the regions experiencing the most severe humanitarian crises in the world due to the lasting effects of colonialism. Today, economic development in many African countries progresses very slowly; poverty, unemployment, and income inequality remain among the most fundamental challenges faced by societies. A large portion of the population struggles to meet daily needs, and families living in rural areas, in particular, survive on low-income, agriculture-based livelihoods.
In the field of healthcare, access to clean drinking water, modern medical services, and essential medicines continues to be a serious problem in many countries. Preventable diseases such as malaria, typhoid, and cholera claim thousands of lives every year, while child mortality rates remain far above the global average. Malnutrition poses a critical risk, especially for children and mothers. According to the World Health Organization, millions of people living in Sub-Saharan Africa are completely deprived of basic healthcare services.
Similar challenges exist in the field of education. Across large parts of the continent, a significant number of children are unable to attend school or are forced to drop out. The main barriers to education include financial hardship, long distances to schools, difficulties in access, inadequate infrastructure, and a shortage of qualified teachers.
This overall situation leaves millions of people in Africa dependent on humanitarian aid. Economic development initiatives, access to healthcare support, clean water and food assistance, and investments in education demonstrate how vital every step taken in the region truly is.
As the Mavi Marmara Freedom and Solidarity Association, we carry out projects in many African countries. Being fully aware of these needs, we do not focus solely on temporary aid, but also implement sustainable development projects. By distributing sewing machines, we support women in earning their own livelihoods; through small grocery shop projects, we create sustainable sources of income for families. With dairy cow distribution, we both contribute to family nutrition and enable regular income through milk sales.
Through the orphanages we have established, we ensure that orphaned children do not feel alone, providing them with shelter and education and preparing them for life.
To help children and young people look to the future with hope, we build schools, and to strengthen religious and social life, we construct mosques. By drilling water wells, we provide access to clean water—one of life’s most essential needs—offering a source of life to thousands of people. Through our annual Qurbani (sacrificial meat) programs, we also bring abundance and dignity to the tables of families in need.
Every project we implement contributes not only to today, but also to the construction of a better tomorrow. We believe that hope sparked by a single sewing machine, a life opened through a water well, and dreams nurtured within the walls of a school will transform into powerful steps that shape the future of the continent.
These projects, carried out with the support of our valued donors, touch the lives of millions and help guide them toward a stronger and more hopeful future. Together with your contributions, we continue working to build a brighter tomorrow for Africa.
Your donations have the power to shape not only the future of one family, but of an entire community in Africa.
