Thousands Have Lost Their Lives in Gaza, and the Orphans Left Behind Are Struggling

For years, continuous attacks in Gaza have claimed thousands of lives, leaving behind children who struggle with increasingly difficult living conditions. The number of orphans in Gaza has been rising each year, and especially in the 15 months following October 7th, more than 40,000 children have been orphaned.

Our religion, Islam, obliges every individual to extend a helping hand to those who are alone, stranded, or in need. In this regard, the sayings (hadiths) of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) guide us, especially concerning the rights of orphans and our duty to care for them. Given the gravity of the situation, we, as the Mavi Marmara Association, have launched a large-scale orphan sponsorship program to ensure that no orphan in Gaza is left without support.

How Are Orphans Selected?

Our Gaza office plays a crucial role in identifying orphaned children. Through extensive research conducted within Gaza, the most vulnerable children are identified and registered in our orphan support system.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 

"The one who cares for an orphan and I will be together in Paradise like this," (showing his index and middle fingers joined together).
