While fasting is obligatory for every healthy Muslim who reaches the month of Ramadan, those who are unable to fast and cannot make up for their missed fasts later are required to provide financial aid equivalent to feeding a poor person. This form of charity is called fidya. The most important aspect of fidya is ensuring that it reaches those who are truly in need.
Over the past 15 months, Gaza has suffered relentless bombardment, resulting in the destruction of homes, the loss of tens of thousands of lives, and making it nearly impossible for Gazans to access even the most basic necessities. Similarly, the worsening poverty in Africa has left many struggling to find even a single meal.
As the Mavi Marmara Association, we strive to deliver fidya donations from our brothers and sisters who are unable to fast to those in need in Gaza and Africa, offering them a glimpse of relief.
By donating your fidya, set at 180 Turkish Liras per person by the Presidency of Religious Affairs, to Gaza and Africa, you can share in this act of kindness and bring hope to those in need.
