New Vessels from Türkiye Preparing for Gaza Blockade Flotilla
Vessels being prepared in Türkiye for the Global Sumud Fleet are expected to set sail for the Mediterranean once suitable conditions are in place.
01.05.2026

Under the initiative named the “Freedom and Sumud Fleet,” it is planned that more than 100 ships and vessels from various countries will sail across the Mediterranean toward Gaza.

As part of the preparation process, vessels departing from different parts of Europe are expected to converge in Türkiye, which is reported to play a key role as a “safe harbor” for coordination and assembly.

According to statements by Sumud Fleet organizers, preparations continue, including technical outfitting, logistical arrangements, and the loading of humanitarian aid supplies. It is emphasized that this initiative represents the largest civilian maritime aid flotilla organized since the beginning of the blockade on Gaza.

The main objective of the fleet is stated as breaking the blockade on Gaza and delivering humanitarian aid to the region. The process is being carried out with emphasis on compliance with international law and humanitarian principles.

Once conditions related to maritime safety are met, the vessels are expected to depart for the Mediterranean and join the main structure of the fleet.
