Back-to-Back Attacks on the Sumud Flotilla: Threats and Interventions Continue.

The Global Sumud Flotilla, which set sail to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and break the blockade, was attacked by more than ten drones on the night of September 23, while approximately 700 miles away from Gaza. Prior to the attacks, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs had repeatedly threatened the flotilla for days. Minister Yisrael Katz stated, “We will not allow the ships to violate the naval blockade. If the purpose is humanitarian aid, let them bring the aid to the Ashkelon Marina,” signaling a possible intervention. This was not the first attack on the flotilla. The flotilla’s ship Family departed from Alicante, Spain, on September 7 and reached the shores of Tunisia, preparing to head towards Gaza on September 10. However, on the night of September 8, while docked at the port of Sidi Bou Said in Tunisia, it was subjected to a drone attack. Despite all obstacles, it continued its journey toward Gaza. The attack near the Tunisian coast on September 8, followed by the drone assault in international waters on September 23, reveals that the Sumud Flotilla is being systematically targeted. Despite all threats, the Global Sumud Flotilla has reiterated its determination to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza as planned. The organizers emphasized that this movement is not only about humanitarian aid but also a struggle to defend human dignity, and they issued a call. Organizers and supporters continue to urge the international community: Do not let Sumud fall off the agenda.
