In Gaza, the group most deeply affected by the 15-month-long Israeli attacks has undoubtedly been the children. Thousands of children lost their lives during this time, while nearly 40,000 were left orphaned. The greatest impact of this process on children, however, has been psychological.
The constant bombings left deep scars in their minds. After the sounds of airplanes, the sight of martyrs' funerals, and the rubble, the ceasefire has now brought a time for healing.
As the Mavi Marmara Association, we launched the project "With You, Hope Rises Again in Gaza," aiming to address many of Gaza’s needs, from its education and healthcare systems to housing and infrastructure. We began these efforts with the children, who are the guarantees of our future.
A few months ago, under the shadow of the attacks, we organized a children's festival to try to bring smiles to their saddened faces. With your support, we have now held our second children’s festival, this time sharing the joy of the ceasefire with the children.
At this event, dozens of children had the opportunity to play, dance, and enjoy various treats to their hearts’ content. This activity was crucial in helping the children of Gaza emerge from this challenging period with as little impact as possible.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our donors who contributed to making our second children’s festival a reality.
