“Mavi Marmara Is a Will Put Forward to Break the Blockade”

President Songür recalled that the Mavi Marmara Association was founded in 2011 following the attack on the Mavi Marmara ship, stating that the association has been active in both legal advocacy and humanitarian aid. He emphasized that for nearly 15 years they have been defending the rights of the Palestinian people and have carried out orphan sponsorship projects, water well initiatives, food aid distributions, and Ramadan and Qurbani organizations in more than 15 countries across Africa and Asia.

Describing Mavi Marmara in one word as “breaking the blockade,” Songür expressed that they continue to use all available means to end the unlawful blockade imposed on Gaza.

The Humanitarian Situation in Gaza

Our President stated that approximately 2.4 million people in Gaza are struggling to survive in a very limited area and that civilians are facing severe humanitarian conditions. He noted that at least 1,500 aid trucks are needed daily, but that aid deliveries are being systematically obstructed.

Songür pointed out that production areas in Gaza have largely been destroyed and that access to basic humanitarian needs has been severely restricted. He emphasized that fundamental rights guaranteed under international law are being violated.

“Gaza Is No Longer an Open-Air Prison, but a Genocide Camp”

Using striking expressions during the program, President Songür stressed that what is happening in Gaza is not merely a blockade issue, but also an ongoing occupation and a matter of serious human rights violations.

New Fleets on the Way

Recalling that 19 different attempts have been made so far to break the blockade by sea, Songür announced that new fleets are currently in preparation. For security reasons, no specific dates were shared; however, he stated that there is a goal to set sail again into the Mediterranean with hundreds of ships.

Ramadan Activities

President Songür also stated that within the scope of Ramadan, aid programs are planned primarily for Gaza and the Palestinian territories, as well as for Palestinians living in Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, and Jordan. He added that food distributions, iftar organizations, and orphan support projects will continue in Africa and Asia.

Support and Donations

Songür noted that benefactors who wish to contribute can make online donations via the official website and emphasized that donations are delivered transparently to those in need.

At the end of the program, our President shared their message for the month of Ramadan:

“May this Ramadan be a celebration for the oppressed.”
