We Are Carrying a Future to Gaza!

We are delivering school kits to the children studying in our tent education campuses in Gaza.

The genocide in Gaza has also stripped children of their right to education. The occupation forces’ direct targeting of schools left almost no school standing in the region. Yet despite all this devastation, the children of Gaza have not given up learning, nor have their teachers given up teaching.

As the Mavi Marmara Association, with the support of our donors last year, we built 3 tent education campuses in Gaza in partnership with UDEF, so that children would not fall behind in their schooling.

Doors Opening to Learning in Gaza

Established in partnership with the Gaza Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the campuses host 900 students from elementary through the final year of high school.

Classes at the campuses continue in three daily shifts — morning, afternoon, and evening.

Besides classrooms, the campuses also include shared gathering spaces, activity tents, a kindergarten, and a mosque.

Every lesson taught here is a step toward keeping a child in Gaza connected to their education and prepared for the future.

A School Bag Is Also Needed to Keep Attending Class

Building a campus is an important step toward getting children back into a classroom. But to keep attending school, every child also needs a bag, notebooks, pens, an eraser, crayons, and other basic school supplies.

The economic and humanitarian hardship caused by the war makes it difficult for many families to meet even their children’s most basic needs.

While 900 students study at these campuses, we are now working to deliver the school kits they need as they head to class.

A Bag Is Part of the Journey Back to School

A school bag is more than something that simply carries a child’s supplies. Along with the notebooks and pens inside it, it’s one of the most tangible parts of their day-to-day return to school.
